Roots of the Recipe (“we,” “us”) runs rootsoftherecipe.com, a recipe and food-history site based in Texas, USA. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, subscribe, comment or shop, and how we use it.
Questions about your information? Email rr@rootsoftherecipe.com.
Information you give us
| When you… | What we collect | Why |
| Sign up for emails | Your email address and which updates you chose (new episodes, new recipes) | To send only the emails you asked for |
| Buy from the shop | Name, email, shipping and billing address, phone, order details | To process, ship and support your order |

Email sign-ups are managed with MailPoet. You’ll get a confirmation email first, and every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell or rent your email address.
Payments are handled by our payment processor. Your full card number goes straight to them; we never see or store it.
Comments may be checked by Akismet, an automated spam-filtering service, which receives the comment and some details about it.
Information collected automatically
Cookies. Our site uses small files called cookies to keep the shop cart working, remember logged-in users, and measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features, like the cart, may not work without them.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats to understand which recipes and pages people visit. These tools collect things like pages viewed, time on site, device and browser type, and approximate location. We use this only to improve the site. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
Security. To protect the site from hackers and spam, our security tools (Wordfence) log visitor IP addresses and activity, and may block suspicious traffic.
Videos, maps and links to other sites
Embedded content. Our recipe pages include YouTube videos, and our Where I Eat page includes a Google map. When you view them, YouTube and Google may collect information about you just as if you visited their sites directly. Their privacy policies apply: Google Privacy Policy.
Affiliate links. Some links, such as those on our Kitchen & Pantry page, are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. The store you visit may use cookies to track the referral.
Other websites. Links to restaurants and other sites are provided for your convenience. We aren’t responsible for their privacy practices.
